Sports Injury & Performance

Common Types:

  1. IT Band Syndrome - sharp pain on the side of the thigh          and knee, common with endurance running.
  2. Achilles Tendinitis - sharp pain in the Achilles tendon,            common in all sports where running and/or jumping is a        main activity.
  3. Patella Tendinitis - pain at the top of the kneecap.
  4. Biceps Tendinitis- pain in the biceps tendon.

When is it serious?  - Sports injuries are not considered medically serious unless a tendon becomes torn.  However, for an athlete anything is serious that prevents training and competition.  Luckily , Trigger Point Release and Thera-Bo Staff exercises almost always resolve these issues.

Pain Point Release Tutorial -

(Sports Injury Self Care & Prevention)

Athletes are always on the threshold of injury as the body of pushed to the limits of performance.  Below is a tutorial of Trigger Point Release for the "usual suspects," the most common areas to accumulate stress and fascial densification.  Working specific points along the Kinetic Chain and scanning for asymptomatic "Dense Points"  will keep you feeling good and injury free.  If you have not watched the Trigger Point Tool Introduction, please do so for basic use, strategy, and precautions.  Then, apply Trigger Point Release to the areas in your body that are overworked, strained, or painful due to your training.  You can get a general idea of locations to work by looking at the demos on the Pain Syndromes pages.  Remember you will find unique areas to your body and training when you perform the scan with the Trigger Point Tool.  A good starting point is the "Usual Suspects" tutorial video.
