Hand Pain/Carpal Tunnel

Hand Pain/Carpal Tunnel

The 3 Common Types:

  1. True Carpal Tunnel - pain and numbness in the thumb, index and middle fingers caused by true compression of the Transverse Ligament.  Often associated with overuse.
  2. Double Crush - carpal tunnel plus nerve irritation near the elbow, shoulder, or neck.
  3. Thumb Adductor Strain- pain in the "meaty" part of the thumb can be related to overuse of thumb or arthritis in in the thumb joint.

When is it serious?  - anytime you have prolonged weakness is time to get the issue evaluated by a physician.  For the most part these conditions respond very well to soft tissue self care.
