Headache/Neck Pain

Headache/Neck Pain

The 3 Common Types:

  1. Tension Headache - Starts as tightness in upper neck muscles.  Radiates pain into scalp, sometimes all the way around the eye socket.
  2. Facet Syndrome (wry neck) - sharp pain, usually on one side of neck.  Hard to turn head without discomfort.  This issue can be related also to chronic stress, and habitually "tense" neck muscles."
  3. Disc Pain - Neck pain with shooting pain, that goes down the arm.  Usually realated to long term spinal degeneration or an acute injury.

When is it serious?  - the first two types can be managed on your own and usually resolve in a couple of weeks.  Disc pain shooting down the arm should always be checked out by a doctor, as should any pain that is not improving after 7 days.
