Illiotibial Band Syndrome

Illiotibial Band Syndrome

What Causes Illiotibial Band Syndrome?

During endurance exercise a muscle can "fatigue."  Then efficient aerobic metabolism switches to anerobic, which creates lactic acid and poor muscle function.  When this happens to the Gluteus Maximus, it tightens and pulls along the fascia to the TFL muscle and IT Band... the tightened IT Band then "snaps" across the lateral knee becoming inflamed.

When is it serious?  - IT Band Syndrome is not medically serious, but it is famous for wreaking marathon day.

Pain Point Release Tutorial -

(Illiotibial Band Friction Syndrome)

IT band friction syndrome can be treated with the Trigger Point Tool by working out facial densities at the pain site as well as upper the IT Band into the TFL and Gluteus Maximus.   Scanning for asymptomatic dense points is very importing during regular training for the detection and prevention of issues before they become injuries.  See the demo video below. If you have not watched the Trigger Point Tool Introduction, please do so for basic use, strategy, and precautions.

Thera-Bo Exercise Tutorial -

(Illiotibial Band Friction Syndrome)

The Thera-Bo Dynamic Stability Staff (DIY Kit included with Trigger Point Tool/Myofascial Repair Oil Combo) allows the easiest, fastest, and safest method to rehab full function in your lower extremity muscles.  I say with confidence that there is no better routine for runners and other athletes to restore core movement and coordination in the hip and ankle core muscle groups.  I'll even argue it's better than "balance board" exercises, because these exercises do not mimic real life postural gait and movement.  Please watch the Thera-Bo Staff Introduction, for basic use, strategy, and precautions.
